The
Village
The village of Mas D’Auvignon dates from the 13th century. Built
on high ground overlooking rolling countryside, it was once a fortified
village constructed on geometric lines. It boasts a chateau dating from
this period at one end and a church at the other. Les Arcades is one of
the original houses in the village and other than the chateau is the largest
house there. The original arcades (arches) cover the entrance to the house
and give the house its name.
In the village there’s a Mairie, a school, a tennis court. Local
shops are a short drive away in either Terraube or Caussens. Bread is
delivered to the village everday.
